Transfer News: Manchester United in need of reinforcing five positions in the summer window
According to reliable news outlet ESPN, Manchester United will look to strengthen five positions in the upcoming summer transfer window.
The Red Devils have shown progress this season and are currently only behind Manchester City in the Premier League. However, it has also been clear that certain additions are needed if we are serious about challenging for the top spot.
Having appointed John Murtough as the Football Director and Darren Fletcher as Technical Director, the Red Devils are led by a new recruitment team in the upcoming window.
Among the positions targeted is that of a striker and a central defender. While we continue to be linked to some of the big names, finances could prove to be a stumbling block.
The club does have significant funds available to them but may choose to take a stringy approach given the current financial climate. (h/t The Daily Star)
The Red Devils are also in the market for a right-back who can compete with Aaron Wan-Bissaka. We were keen to strengthen the position last summer but were unable to do so.
The club is also keen on bringing in a right-winger and a central midfielder. But the latter is not considered a priority and is something they will explore if the right opportunity beckons.
Both Fred and Nemanja Matic could be replaced, with Rennes wonderkid Eduardo Camavinga being touted as a potential replacement. (h/t The Daily Star)
United could also revisit their previous interest in Jadon Sancho. Bringing in a new right-winger would help move Mason Greenwood to a more central role.

It is imperative that we address the needs of the squad at the first opportunity. It is evident that the resources at our disposal are insufficient to make the final push to the top.
The onus will now shift to our recruitment team as they seek to build a team that Solskjaer can lead to glory.
