Transfer News: Daniel Levy pours cold water over Manchester United securing Harry Kane
According to Manchester Evening News, Manchester United have been dealt a bad blow in their efforts to sign Tottenham Hotspur ace Harry Kane.
Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is not keen to sell the player to a direct rival and may have thrown a wrench in our hopes of signing him. It is not the first time that Levy has preferred to sell abroad rather than to a domestic rival.
The likes of Luka Modric and Gareth Bale were both linked with Untied but were eventually sold off to Real Madrid. It is fair to say that as things stand, the European sides have the edge over us when it comes to Kane.
The 27-year-old is one of the best strikers in world football and has been consistent at the top level. Despite his individual brilliance, he has failed to win any trophies with Spurs.
Speaking on his future last week, the English skipper refused to commit his future to the North London side. Currently in his prime, Kane could have his pick of suitors.
Both Manchester clubs are in need of a striker and the Spurs ace certainly fills that bracket perfectly. However, with three years left on his current deal, Tottenham hold the leverage when it comes to negotiations.
Senior figures at Spurs believe there is no chance of Kane moving to either of the Manchester clubs. They also believe that only crazy money would make chairman Daniel Levy even consider letting Kane go. (h/t The Express)
Tottenham retain hopes of holding onto their prized asset for another year. Winning the Carabao Cup final could maybe help them in that regard.

Kane would be the ideal striker to shore up our attack. There are few better than the Englishman in the game today and securing him would be worth its weight in gold.
Whether John Murtaugh and Ed Woodward can swing the deal in our favour remains to be seen.
