Paul Pogba expected to leave Manchester United as early as the upcoming summer
According to Italian publication Tuttosport (h/t The Daily Mail), French superstar Paul Pogba is getting closer to ending his second coming at Manchester United.
The 28-year-old has just over a year left to go on his current deal at Old Trafford. With there not being much headway in securing an extension, it would also be in the club’s best interests to sell him in the upcoming summer.
Waiting any longer could see United lose out on any leverage when it comes to negotiations. The worst-case scenario would be for the player to walk for free in 2022.
The report goes on to add that a parting would be ideal for all parties involved. It further adds that the player’s agent, Mino Raiola, could prove to be the kingmaker eventually.
Italian champions Juventus have been heavily linked with the player and could make a move for him in the summer. Pogba continues to remain in contact with his former teammates from Turin through Whatsapp.
The current Juventus manager, Andrea Pirlo shared the field with Pogba during the latter’s time in Turin. Pogba spent four seasons at the Allianz Stadium, scoring 34 goals and 40 assists in 178 appearances.
While Raiola has not expressly dismissed the chances of Pogba staying on at United, he appears to be playing the devil’s advocate regarding any eventuality.
He did create unnecessary drama by stating that Pogba is unhappy and is unable to express himself at Old Trafford. The player has since seemed anything but and has emerged into one of our best performers.
