Erling Haaland: Manchester United target ready to leave Borussia Dortmund
According to Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo (h/t Express), Manchester United transfer target Erling Haaland has informed Borussia Dortmund that he wants to leave in the summer.
One of the most in-demand players heading into the summer transfer window, Haaland is on the top of the transfer wishlists of several top clubs including the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea, Real Madrid.
Having joined the German heavyweights in January last year, the 20-year-old has plundered 49 goals in as many games, putting entire Europe on notice over his goalscoring abilities.
Borussia Dortmund director Michael Zorc recently said that he expects the Norwegian striker to stay at the club. However, it is now being claimed that Haaland has informed the Bundesliga outfit that he is ready to move on in the summer.
This development is certain to come as music to the ears of the Manchester United hierarchy. The Red Devils are in the market for a new centre-forward and rightly so, given how Anthony Martial has underperformed this term.
In addition, Edinson Cavani’s contract runs out at the end of the season. Even if his stay is extended, the Uruguayan is, at best, a stop-gap solution. So, someone like Haaland would be the ideal fit for Manchester United.
However, the club will have to battle with Chelsea who are also keen while Real Madrid are also closely monitoring his situation.

The 20-year-old has a release clause worth £68m that does not get activated until next year. So, Dortmund, hoping to make the most of his interest in him, have slapped a mammoth £153.7m (€180m) price tag on him.
Dortmund, as we witnessed last summer, can be tough negotiators. But with Haaland himself ready to push for an exit, it will be interesting to see how things pan out in the coming weeks.
