Manchester United are one of the clubs interested in RB Leipzig midfielder Marcel Sabitzer

A report by German outlet Bild (h/t Daily Mail) names Manchester United as one of the clubs interested in signing RB Leipzig midfielder Marcel Sabitzer.

United are expected to face competition from Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool for his signature. Sabitzer joined the German side in 2014 and has recently played his best football under Julian Nagelsmann.

Tottenham are long-term admirers of the Australian international and the report cites North London as a likely destination for him. Liverpool, on the other hand, are on the lookout for a Georginio Wijnaldum replacement.

United are also expected to bolster their squad in the summer and Sabitzer is one of the names linked with a move to the Theatre of Dreams. His contract runs out in the summer of 2022.

A great option in midfield

But this is not something that pressurizes the 27-year-old to decide his future in advance. This is exactly what he conveyed when he was talking to Bild (h/t Daily Mail) earlier this month.

“That [contract expiry in 2022] doesn’t mean that everything has to be decided at that moment. Those in my inner circle know what I’m thinking. But I’m not stressed about it. I feel good in Leipzig and at the club.”

It is expected that the in-form midfielder’s wages will multiply if he decides to move to the Premier League. But he says that wages will not play a part in his decision.

More Manchester United News:

He has 7 assists and 6 goals in 31 games for Leipzig so far this season. And with Paul Pogba’s future up in the fair, the £36million price tag that Leipzig have set does not seem like a very big ask considering his talent.
