Marcus Rashford talks about Zlatan Ibrahimovic impact on his career
Marcus Rashford opened up on how Zlatan Ibrahimovic impacted his career during his two seasons at Manchester United (h/t Daily Star). It was during a Twitter Q&A that Rashford revealed that he learnt a lot from the enigmatic Swede.
Rashford broke out in 2016 and Ibrahimovic joined the club in the following season along with Jose Mourinho. It was a successful season for United as they went on to lift the Carabao Cup and Europa League.
However, Ibra’s stay at the club would be short as he suffered a long-term injury that hampered his second season. He eventually left the club.
Rashford talked about how the Swede was a huge influence on his career due to his mentality.
“I played with Zlatan and it was just his mentality was beyond anything I’d ever played with before. He didn’t care what anyone would say or what anyone was saying about him. In terms of mentality, he was key to my development.”
Adding to it, Rashford felt that those were tough times under Mourinho. But he also claimed that it helped him in a couple of years time. Rashford insisted the overall situation increased his mental toughness and made him an all-round player.
