Manchester United star Sergio Romero unlikely to move to Boca Juniors
According to Argentine news outlet El Intransigante, Manchester United outcast Sergio Romero has made a decision regarding his future.
The veteran goalkeeper has not featured for United since last season and looks all set to leave the club sooner than later. One of the clubs linked heavily with him was South American side Boca Juniors.
The Argentine side have taken a liking for United’s South American talents in recent months. They secured Marcos Rojo in February and have also been linked with Edinson Cavani.
However, Romero appears to have different plans and is keen to stay put in Europe. The 34-year-old’s decision is influenced by his family as he waits for a suitable offer.
But he does recognize that the market is likely to be complicated, leaving him open to developing possibilities. If one thing is for sure, his time at United clearly appears to be coming to an end.
The MLS is another option, while a return to Argentina is not entirely off the table. However, it is unlikely to be Boca.
The report goes on to say that there is belief in the player’s inner circle that Romero could return to Argentina with Racing, the club where he began his career.
The goalkeeper often visits the club’s academy and continues to share a strong bond with them. This could very well give them the edge over Boca when it comes to landing the player.
