Marcus Rashford to return to Manchester United following injury assessment at England camp
A report by Sky Sports states that after further assessment of his foot injury, Marcus Rashford will return to Manchester United from the England camp to continue his rehabilitation.
The English striker reported to St. George’s Park with a foot injury that he picked up earlier this month. It came in United’s Europa League triumph over AC Milan, which also led him to miss the FA Cup loss against Leicester City.
He was called up to the Three Lions squad but sat out of their 5-0 win against San Marino due to the same issue. And the problem seems to be persisting as Rashford will now rejoin Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side.
He will travel to the Aon Training Complex and continue his rehabilitation there. This means that he will miss the upcoming FIFA World Cup qualifiers for his country.
Back to United
Gareth Southgate’s men are scheduled to take on Albania on Sunday before hosting Poland on Wednesday. Hungary and Andorra are the other two teams in a Group I bracket which the Three Lions are expected to top.
And speaking about his injury issues earlier this week, Southgate lamented how Rashford has featured very little for England recently. He has only featured in two England games in the last 12 months.
“It’s of course frustrating for him and us that he’s not been able to play as much as any of us would like in the last 12 months. There’s nothing we can do about that.”
