Transfer News: Nikola Milenkovic does not appear too high on the Manchester United wishlist
One piece of transfer news doing the rounds in recent months has been that of the interest shown by Manchester United in Nikola Milenkovic.
According to the Express, it does not appear as if the player features very high on the club’s wishlist. While a central defender is still seen as a major acquisition, that player need not be Milenkovic.
There have been reports of late that United have been in touch with the Serbian’s representatives and are edging closer to an agreement. According to the aforementioned report, though, there is little truth in it.
With the likes of Jules Kounde and Raphael Varane on our radar, Milenkovic has in reality been shown little to no interest by United.
The 23-year-old is admittedly a decent defender with much potential. He has been linked with a move to Old Trafford since the days of Jose Mourinho. It has been suggested that this is why we continue to be linked with him.
Make hay while the sun shines!
Our need for a new centre-back is well known and it is evident that we would be linked with every player under the sun. With just over a year to go on his current deal, Milenkovic is also well-served if news of our interest in him is made public.
The 23-year-old also recently spoke of his admiration for former United defender Nemanja Vidic. All this lends a sense of romanticism that may be far removed from reality.

There is little doubt that Milenkovic is a good player. He has largely impressed in a Fiorentina side that has struggled this season.
While United may not hold a concrete interest in him, it may not be the case for other teams. The likes of AC Milan and Atletico Madrid are the latest teams to join the fray for his signature.
