Alan Shearer feels Manchester United are stale without Bruno Fernandes

According to Manchester Evening News, Alan Shearer believes Manchester United ‘look stale’ in the attack without Bruno Fernandes. Manchester United started the game against Leicester City with Fernandes on the bench but were convincingly beaten by the Foxes despite calling on the mercurial playmaker in the second half.

Unsurprisingly, his introduction along with few others sparked an upturn in the energy levels. His freekick even stung the palms of Kasper Schmeichel, who did well to parry the ball heading for the top corner. However, another cheap goal at the other end meant that Fernandes could not pull off a rescue act for his side.

Former Newcastle and Premier League legend Alan Shearer gave his verdict on the game. He felt that United looked like they were feeling the effects of a gruelling midweek game AC Milan in the Europa League.

However, we could not match the intensity of Leicester City and without Fernandes, we look much worse.

“Leicester had more of a spring in their step than Manchester United. Understandable? Yes, but he did try and change it up with leaving a few players out and bringing players in.

One of those was Fernandes and when he’s not in the team, they don’t quite have that brilliance or someone who can unlock the door. I thought they were pretty stale going forward.”

The FA Cup games have somewhat allowed Solskjaer to rest Fernandes who has been going non-stop for his side. However, in his rare absences, the side has struggled creatively.

He has been called from the bench on those occasions to change the game. While he has not complained, the fact remains that he is slowly going to burn out if the same continues.
