Will Manchester United reignite Lucas Vazquez pursuit as the player looks set to quit Real Madrid?

According to Spanish news outlet Marca (h/t Football.london), Lucas Vazquez who was formerly linked with Manchester United is increasingly likely to leave Real Madrid this summer.

The 29-year-old has spent all of his career at Real Madrid, barring a single season at Espanyol. A three-time Champions League winner, he was a part of Los Blancos side that dominated the competition the last decade.

He has just months left on his current deal and could leave on a free in the summer. Negotiations have broken down and Vazquez now appears to be on his way out.

A winger, the Spaniard has enjoyed a new lease of life this season as a right-back. Adding his offensive abilities to the position has given Los Blancos an added dimension on his flank going forward.

United are in the market for a right-backwho can push Aaron Wan-Bissaka. The Englishman is a solid defender but is lacking from an attacking point of view.

Bringing in Vazquez will give Ole Gunnar Solskjaer a new option if needed on the right flank. More so, United also lack an out-and-out right winger and signing Vazquez could kill two birds with one stone.

Something different!

United were keen to bring in a right-winger last summer but were unable to do so. While Vazquez is not going to be a world-class addition, he is more than capable of giving us a creative outlet down the right.

Solskajer recently admitted that the club will need to be smart regarding their summer transfer business. The prospect of signing Vazquez, a proven player for free would represent just that. Whether it is something we are willing to explore remains to be seen.

United, however, have to go up against the likes of both Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal to land the Spaniard. While no transfer is without its risks, a free transfer mitigates it to an extent. (h/t Football.london)

Vazquez could prove to be a shrewd acquisition for some team in the summer. Whether that will be us remains to be seen.
