Former Man United ace urges club to sign this talismanic English superstar

Transfer News: Robbie Savage urges Manchester United to do what it takes to sign Harry Kane

Writing for news outlet The Mirror, former Red Devil Robbie Savage has urged Manchester United to do what it takes to sign Harry Kane in the summer transfer window.

The English skipper is a prolific scorer and one of the best strikers in world football. An infallible scorer, he would add a different dimension to the United attack.

The Tottenham Hotspur star is however not Savage’s first-choice striker. While he is keen to see the club go for Erling Haaland, the 20-year-old is one of the most in-demand players in world football and could prove difficult to sign.

In Kane, Savage has suggested a pretty exciting backup. If a deal for Haaland fails, he has urged John Murtough to leave no stone unturned in signing the Englishman.

“Go all-out to bring Kane to Old Trafford. Move heaven and earth for him.”

Murtough was recently appointed as the club’s Football Director. In charge of recruitment, he will need to prove himself in what could be a pivotal summer window for the Red Devils.

Despite scoring bucketloads of goals for Spurs, Kane is yet to win a single trophy in his career. While he may break that duck against Manchester City in the Carabao Cup, Tottenham are unlikely to guarantee him success.

That was on show again this week after Jose Mourinho’s side let slip a 2-0 first-leg lead to crash out of the Europa League.

Kane is in his prime and at 27, he should be aiming to play for a side challenging for trophies. United are not there yet but are steadily improving. Adding him to the mix could help us make that final push to the top.

All eyes will be on Murtough this summer. He was earlier revealed to have botched up the Haaland deal in 2018. Hopefully, lessons have since been learned.
