Manchester United sign lucrative deal with TeamViewer to replace Chevrolet as shirt sponsors
A report by The Independent claims that Manchester United have signed a new shirt deal with software company, TeamViewer, who will now be the club’s new shirt sponsors.
This means that the Manchester United shirts will display the TeamViewer logo instead of Chevrolet from the 2021/22 season. The five-year deal is believed to be around £235million, with the club raking in approximately £47million every year.
The club’s sponsorship with car manufacturers Chevrolet is set to expire in December 2021 as it was extended by 6 months due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The deal was worth £64million-a-year, the most lucrative deal ever procured by a football club in history. But the deal with TeamViewer is not bad as well.
New sponsors
It is likened to the shirt sponsorship signed between La Liga giants Barcelona and Japanese brand, Rakuten. United want to make up the monetary deficit by signing a deal with another automobile brand once the Chevrolet deal expires.
TeamViewer has a blue logo but it is believed that the logo on United kits would be white in colour. They are the 6th shirt sponsors in the club’s history, after Sharp, Vodafone, AIG, Aon, and Chevrolet.
The managing director of Manchester United, Richard Arnold, conveyed his contentment after the deal was finalized.
“We are tremendously proud to be establishing this partnership with one of the most exciting and dynamic global software companies… We are looking forward to working with TeamViewer to bring to life our vision for a partnership built on smarter ways of connecting people and businesses.”
