Transfer News: Alex Telles plays down talk of Manchester United summer exit
Speaking to the club’s official website, Manchester United star Alex Telles has hinted that he is set for the long haul at Old Trafford amidst news that he could be on his way out.
The Brazilian left-back arrived at the club from Porto on deadline day last summer. Despite impressing, he has had to play backup to a reborn Luke Shaw.
This has given rise to rumours that the player could be on his way out of Old Trafford next summer. Italian giants Inter Milan were touted as one of the teams keen on the 28-year-old.
“You play for yourself and the team but you also play for the fans.”
Having played in front of empty crowds, Telles is yet to experience the support of the Old Trafford faithful. He is in no mood to call it quits yet and is keen to stick around and experience the same.
“It has been really strange playing in empty stadiums and, honestly, it’s not easy.”
Despite not having experienced it, Telles has heard a lot about the atmosphere at the Theatre of Dreams. For now, he is getting his heart’s content by looking up the videos on Youtube.
“Sadly I haven’t had the chance to play in front of United fans yet, but I’ve only heard great things and I’ve looked through supporters’ videos on YouTube.”
Getting closer!
Telles also believes that the club is on the right path to success. While it is true that we have failed to produce our best consistently, some results stand out as proof of our growth in recent months.
“Having been here at United for six months now, I’ve seen enough to say that I think we’re on the right path to success.”
The Brazilian is keen to win trophies with United and may do so this season. The Red Devils are in the quarterfinals of the Europa League and the FA Cup. With just three ties separating us from either trophy, there is every chance we could end the season with a double.

United are yet to win a trophy under Solskjaer. However, the team continues to improve and is getting closer. From the looks of it, Telles is here to stay and he could very well be celebrating the end of our four-year barren spell without a trophy.
