Solskjaer keen to sell four Manchester United stars to boost his summer transfer kitty
According to the Metro, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be handed a £80m transfer kitty by Manchester United this summer.
The Red Devils have enjoyed a promising season and could even finish second in the Premier League. There are, however, a number of key aspects in the squad that need strengthening.
The Norwegian is keen to sign a centre-back, a right-winger, a defensive midfielder. He might also need to bring in a new forward depending on what happens with Edinson Cavani.
Ensuring we can get our top targets within the summer budget will be a tough ask. Hopefully the necessary funds can be raised through player sales.
Jesse Lingard has impressed out on loan and continuing to do so could see West Ham meet United’s £20m asking price. The Red Devils are now increasingly confident that their demand will be met.
The likes of Diogo Dalot and Phil Jones are also on the chopping block and will boost funds made available to Solskjaer. The latter has drawn interest from the likes of Newcastle United, Burnley and West Ham.
Juan Mata’s contract expires this summer. The club, however, has the option of extending it by another year. Given that there is interest from Inter Milan, Juventus and Roma, they might do just that to preserve his transfer value.
Our biggest asset, however, could prove to be Paul Pogba. The Frenchman is yet to pen an extension and could be sold this summer. The sales could potentially raise money available to a much more significant £140m. Hopefully, it will be enough to make our necessary additions.
