“He will be fit”: Solskjaer gives verdict on injured Man United star as the European Championships loom

Solskjaer gives Gareth Southgate good news on Manchester United ace Marcus Rashford

Marcus Rashford has evolved into a key player for both Manchester United and England.

The 23-year-old is the club’s second top scorer this season and has often been the difference-maker in games. His hattrick earlier in the campaign against RB Leipzig is just one example of the young Englishman’s prowess.

Currently nursing an injury, Rashford missed the Europea League clash against AC Milan. This is in addition to the shoulder injury he has been nursing since last year.

“I have spoken to Gareth and he will pick Marcus if he is fit. There is absolutely no problem.”

Rashford sustained the injury during out match against Arsenal last November and has since played through the pain barrier. There were even concerns that he may need a surgery in the summer.

Thankfully, that does not appear to be the case anymore. According to the Mirror, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed that the player will not need to go under the knife and will be ready to feature for England in the Euros.

“Marcus wants to play for England – and hopefully he will be fit.”

Immediate concerns!

Solskjaer has also given Gareth Southgate the thumbs up to call up Rashford for the World Cup qualifying triple-header against San Marino, Albania and Poland later this month. This is, however, dependent on him shaking off the ankle injury sustained against Manchester City.

“If he can get back and be fit enough to play for us before the international break then I don’t see why he shouldn’t play for England.”

Rashford is almost certain to miss tonight’s game against West Ham. It remains to be seen if he will be ready to take on Milan on 18th.

“We are trying to get him fit for the Milan game but we will have to wait and see.”

Just 23, Rashford has struggled with a number of injuries the last couple of seasons. While his importance to the team is not in question, there should be an effort to manage his game time better.

The last thing we want is another player cut down in the prime of his career.
