Paul Parker believes Solskajer should be getting more out of his Manchester United squad
According to the Mirror, former Manchester United star Paul Parker believes Ole Gunnar Solskjaer should thank his lucky stars that Mauricio Pochettino took over at Paris Saint- Germain.
The United veteran was part of two title-winning sides under Sir Alex Ferguson and is not impressed with the job Solskjaer has done at the club.
He believes Solskjaer’s future is far from assured and that Pochettino would have been the ideal man to replace him.
“It just isn’t good enough and I don’t see United making the progress that he sees.”
United are currently in the second spot but are struggling to keep pace with Manchester City at the top. A failure to improve our results could also see us fall prey to the chasing pack of Chelsea and Everton.
“The way things are going I really think Solskjaer should be grateful Pochettino got the job at PSG.”
Parker also believes Solskjaer is lucky that matches are taking place behind closed doors. He believes fans would not have been pleased with what he describes as ‘shocking’ performances.
“And it would be a lot worse for him the way United have been playing lately if there were fans in the stadiums – they’ve been shocking.”
Not driving home the advantage!
Top of the league in January, there was faint hope that Solskajer could aim for the impossible. However, the slide has been a pain to witness and could get much worse.
While Parker does not expect United to challenge for the league, he believes there is enough quality in the squad to be doing much better.
“The slide has just proved United are lacking the quality in midfield, wide areas and attack to make them title contenders. But they still should be doing a lot better with a squad that’s not really been hit by many injuries.”

Parker also appears to be unhappy with the hype surrounding Mason Greenwood and Marcus Rashford. He believes the pair are overrated and should do more to justify their reputations.
