Thomas Tuchel was keen on Manchester United ace Bruno Fernandes while at PSG
Bruno Fernandes will once again take the center stage as Manchester Untied taken on Chelsea later tonight.
The Portuguese midfielder has now been at the club for over a year and in that time has established himself as the best player in the squad. He has so far surpassed all expectations and has also displayed inhuman consistency.
This talent may not have been evident to everyone, but then Thomas Tuchel knows better than most.
According to the BBC, the Chelsea boss tried to sign the United midfielder during his time at PSG. Tuchel was made aware of Fernandes by former PSG sporting director Antero Henrique.
“We tried to make it happen.”
The French giants also made a move to land the player but were, thankfully for us, unsuccessful in swaying his decision.
“We tried and he went another way. It is bad for us that we have to play against him [on Sunday].”
Respect earned!
Now at Chelsea, Tuchel will get a chance to watch the player work his magic up close later tonight. The German has a fine opinion of Fernandes and praised the impact he has had at Old Trafford.
“He has [had] a huge, huge impact and to have this as a single person in football, you must be absolutely top level because this is almost impossible. The impact he has had is indescribable and unbelievable.”
Not many can immediately make the step up from the Portuguese league to the Premier League from the get-go. Fernandes, however, appears to have played in England all his life and does not look like he will stop anytime soon.

No many players have enjoyed the impact Fernandes has had and Tuchel is right to admire the 26-year-old’s success. With the likes of Paul Pogba and Edinson Cavani ruled out, the onus will be on Fernandes to take centre stage against Chelsea.
He will hopefully step up and showcase once again why he is held in such high regard. Doing so will not come as a surprise for Tuchel in the opposition dugout.
