Quality over quantity is the mantra for Solskjaer at Manchester United

According to Manchester Evening News, Manchester United boss, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is only interested in bringing in players who are a perfect fit for the club in the upcoming summer transfer window.

As things stand, the Norwegian is unsure as to how many players will be brought in. With the season set to be played out in front of empty crowds, another frugal summer could be on the cards.

With finances potentially at a premium, Solskjaer is on the lookout for quality over quantity.

“I have a strong squad, a deep squad. I can’t say if it’s going to be ‘X’ amount of signings in the summer. We still look at players and it has to be the right one. It is not the amount of transfers.”

United spent money last summer but none of the players have really gone on to establish themselves as automatic first-choice starters. Donny van de Beek has barely played while Alex Telles is behind Luke Shaw in the pecking order.

Edinson Cavani has impressed but is at best a stop-gap option until we bring in a younger striker.

The youth revolution?

The Red Devils have brought in a number of young players in recent years. These youngsters could go on to form the spine of a formidable United side for years to come.

Solskjaer believes there is a good infusion of youth in his side as the club looks to build on its long-term vision. While there is potential, we still have to do more and the Norwegian is aware of it.

“And our transfer plans, of course, we have long-term plans and I feel my squad now is more and more full of younger players that can improve.”

While we do have a decent squad at our disposal, there is still a number of concerns to be addressed. Some of them include bringing in a centre-back and a striker while also settling the goalkeeping dispute.

A right-winger is also needed while Paul Pogba’s potential departure may alleviate the need for another midfielder. A key summer window lies ahead of us and it remains to be seen what the club chooses to do.
