Manchester United fans react as Boris Johnson announces fans could return to stadiums this season
According to Manchester Evening News, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s address to parliament yesterday has given Manchester United fans something to cheer about.
He went on to state that supporters could return to stadiums before the end of the current campaign. The momentous occasion could occur before May 17, a week before the season ends.
Packed houses are still some way off but up to 10,000 people or 25% of the total seating capacity of the venue (whichever is lower) would be able to attend the game.
United play Wolverhampton Wanderers at the Molineux on the final day of the season. Time will tell if fans will be in tow that day.
The last time our fans were present was at the Theatre of Dreams was against Manchester City on 8th March 2020. 73,288 supporters were in attendance as the Red Devils won 2-0. How we could do with the same against Pep Guardiola’s side next month.
In any case, fans will only return to Old Trafford next season. While that is still some way away, it will be heartening for the team to experience fans’ support in the stadium once again.
