Tottenham, Chelsea in the race to land Manchester United ace Dean Henderson

According to the Manchester Evening News, Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson is said to be attracting serious interest. The London-based trio of Tottenham, Chelsea and West Ham have been tipped to make a move for him.

Dean Henderson is an academy graduate of Manchester Unite and spent two very progressive seasons at Sheffield United on loan. During his time at Bramall Lane, he emerged as one of the finest young shot-stoppers in the country.

However, on his return to the club this season, he was installed as the second-choice behind David De Gea. He has been preferred in the cup games but has seen very few league games. That has led to frustration in the youngster with opportunities coming at a premium.

The England international will likely want to be his country’s first choice in the European Championships in the summer. But, with games being played by him are at a sporadic level, it would seriously dent his chances of achieving that.

De Gea has continued to be the first choice and it does not bode well for Henderson to keep waiting for game time. The reported interest from Chelsea and Spurs should, however, worry Manchester United given the potential he has shown over the last few seasons.

This seems like a tricky scenario with De Gea still the first-choice and Henderson getting frustrated as the second choice. They would surely not want to lose either keeper, let alone to a rival club. But something will have to give at the end of the season.
