Solskjaer heaps the praise on Manchester United ace Daniel James following recent resurgence
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has come out with some encouraging words for resurgent Manchester United ace Daniel James following his display against Newcastle (h/t Daily Mail). James scored the vital second goal in the 3-1 win which put the hosts ahead in the second half.
In what was James’ first league start in 2021, his crucial goal drew praise from Solskjaer who said that the Welsh speedster is reaping the rewards of his hard work in training. Despite James fizzling out after a good start last season, Solskjaer has denied anything such.
“He has never disappeared, he’s been working hard behind the scenes, always been available, always a player you can use in different positions. He is learning the game and I’m very happy for him. We work with him, we try to help everyone.”
Solskjaer further insisted that a move for a club of Manchester United’s stature from the Championship can be overawing but praised James for toughing it out.
“Dan came from the Championship up to Man United, hit a few goals in his first games it’s bound to take some energy away from you with the headlines and media attention but he has knuckled down and worked to get that confidence to believe in himself. Now he knows he is a good player.”
This was James’ second goal in as many games after he found the net against Real Sociedad in midweek. He also bagged an assist in that game. With his goal against Newcastle, James surpassed his last season’s tally of four goals in 46 games. Currently, he has 5 goals from 13 games.

It has been a good turnaround from a player who had seemingly fallen to the fringes with the likes of Marcus Rashford, Mason Greenwood, Edinson Cavani and Anthony Martial regarded as first-choice, James hardly got games to his name.
However, with a number of matches to play in the coming weeks, James’ upturn in form has come at a good time for Manchester United and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
