Ole Gunnar Solskjaer believes Manchester United are still in the title race
According to Daily Mail, Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has refused to admit defeat in the title race.
The Norwegian’s comments come following United’s 3-1 win over Newcastle United at Old Trafford. The win saw us stay 10 points behind Manchester City, who won away at Arsenal.
Pep Guardiola’s side have now won 18 games on the spin and do not appear to be slowing down. Catching them will be a big ask but Solskjaer believes the race is not done yet.
“I’m never going to say it’s done until it’s done.”
With 13 games still to go, there could yet be another dramatic twist in the title race. Realistically though, it is difficult to see a Guardiola side surrender such a lead.
After all the City side isn’t the Newcastle team of old. The most United can do right now is win their games and hang in there. Solskjaer appears to have hinted at doing just that.
“You’ve seen so many examples of teams hanging in there: do your own jobs and something might happen.”
Could have been more!
With the title challenge out of our hands, it makes sense for us to concentrate on ourselves. Finishing second this season would constitute progress.
Given our standing in January, it could have been more and should have been so. But a runner-up medal still constitutes progress and it should not be dismissed out of hand.
“We just think about our own games. It’s not like we are going to think we’ll lose as there’s no point. We’ve loads to play for.”

United next face City in the league on 7th March. A win on the night will see us catch up with them and set up a potentially exciting finish to the season.
There is still so much to be played for this season. While fighting until the end is admirable, Solskjaer is better of focussing on aiming for titles where we control our own destiny.
