Manchester United to target Erling Haaland in the summer
According to the Mirror, Manchester United are set to pursue the transfer of Borussia Dortmund star Erling Haaland in the summer window, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer confirming that the board is ready to back him in the transfer window.
Manchester United failed to sign the 20-year-old goal-machine last January, with the Norwegian striker option to join Dortmund instead. Since moving to Germany, he has absolutely thrived, establishing himself as one of the top marksman in Europe.
However, Manchester United could be ready to launch the offensive for Haaland next summer, with Solskjaer confident that the board and the owners will back his transfer plans.
Ed Woodward and The Glazers had been bashed by the fans for not splashing the cash on Haaland’s teammate, Jadon Sancho, last summer. The manager, however, is assured that it will not be the case this year.
“We’ve got a plan to become a very successful Man United team – and a team that top players want to play for. I can’t say anything about individuals. But we’ve got the backing. The owners keep backing the club and myself and hopefully, we can improve the team.”
Solskjaer further went on to add that it was important for Manchester United to take the next step and perform better than the last season, if the club is to attract top players.
“We are getting better, but we need to do better than last year when we got to three semi-finals. The next stage is to get into finals and establish ourselves again as challengers in the league.”
