Ole Gunnar Solskjaer pleased as Manchester United rediscover clinical edge against Real Sociedad
According to the Daily Mail, Manchester United manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is pleased with the clinical edge his side displayed in the win over Real Sociedad.
Goals from Bruno Fernandes, Marcus Rashford and Daniel James saw the Red Devils win 4-0 on the night. This gives us a massive advantage going into the second leg at home next week.
The comprehensive win will come as a relief given our recent form. United have won only two of their last six games and have strugled to break sides down.
“We’ve been through a difficult spell and I found tonight, or I thought we found ourselves a little bit tonight.”
“We were more clinical in front of goal, of course, even though we had a few chances before we got the first one.”
United suffered a couple of scares in the opening minutes before they stamped their dominance over the Spaniards. It was a pretty open game and the Red Devils did well to take the chances that came their way.
Despite the added advantage of having scored all four goals away from home, Solskjaer is taking nothing for granted. Stranger things have happened in football and the Norwegian is right to take it one game at a time.
Eye on the ball!
The healthy lead saw Solskjaer bring on substitutes and rest his starters. With a busy schedule ahead, it is imperative that we keep the squad as fresh as possible.
United play a plucky Newcastle side at Old Trafford this weekend. Solskjaer is keen to play a strong side and ensure the momentum built up from last night is carried forward.
“Of course we’ve got Newcastle first but we’ll put a strong team out because it’s about creating momentum.”

Speaking ahead of the game yesterday, Solskjaer admitted that his strikers should be more clinical in their approach. United’s front four have scored just 17 times in the league this season, put together. They will surely be expected to add to that tally against the Magpies.
