Manchester United striker Edinson Cavani has rejected offers from Boca Juniors.

Edinson Cavani keen to extend his stay at Manchester United

According to Mike McGrath of the Telegraph, Edinson Cavani is keen to extend his stay at Manchester United beyond this summer.

The 34-year-old joined United last summer on deadline day in what was seen as a panic buy. Cavani has since made a mockery of the claim by putting in a number of excellent performances.

This has come at a good time given Anthony Martial’s poor run of form. With his initial one-year deal coming to an end this summer, Cavani has made a decision on his future.

The Uruguayan is happy at the club and is keen to extend his stay. An experienced ace with still much to offer, his decision should ease United’s search for another striker.

Cavani has scored six goals in eight starts for the club this season. His penchant to score key goals has also seen him take over as United’s first-choice forward.

The Uruguayan is currently recovering from a muscle injury and did not make the trip to Turin to face Real Sociedad. Hopefully, he will be available for our Premier League clash at the weekend against Newcastle United.

Given his success so far, Cavani is well within his merits to demand an extension. It is well earnt and United would be foolish not to grant it. Also, his presence will give United enough time to do their due diligence and bring in a new long-term replacement.

Cavani has shown that there is value to be found in the Bosman market. He has so far proven to be an inspired signing and has shown his worth. If all goes well, he will be plying his trade at the Theatre of Dreams for a while longer.
