Manchester United hoping to beat off interest from Real Madrid and PSG for Jules Kounde
According to Spanish publication La Razon (h/t The Express), Manchester United have willing to spend as much as £61million for Sevilla defender Jules Kounde.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is keen to bring in a new centre-back and has identified the Frenchman as his key objective for the summer.
The Norwegian remains unconvinced by the likes of Victor Lindelof, Eric Bailly and Axel Tuanzebe. He is keen to bring in a new player to partner skipper Harry Maguire in defence.
United paid a king’s ransom to land Maguire from Leicester City in 2019. While he has done well, there is still much scope for improvement.
The money United have allocated could prove significant given our rivals’ financial constraints. Real Madrid are also keen to land Kounde but will need to get rid of Isco and Mariano Diaz to free up funds.
Advantage United!
PSG have also been linked with Kounde but have prioritized the signing of Sergio Ramos. United are also keen on the Spaniard but have reservations regarding his fitness.
Solskjaer got a first-hand look at the player in the Europa League semifinal last season and was left impressed by what he saw.
It remains to be seen if we can successfully land the player come summer.

Comfortable both aerially and on the ground, Kounde is a player who can add something to the United backline. Moreover, his pace will act as the perfect foil for a rather slow Maguire.
