Manchester United fans believe the club dodged a bullet by missing out on Dayot Upamecano
Manchester United were keen on French ace Dayot Upamecano only for the defender to go and sign with Bayern Munich.
The RB Leipzig star is seen as one of the best young defenders in European football. He is all set to join the European champions in the summer after reaching an agreement with them.
United too are keen on a defender and it can be argued that they missed out on Upamecano. The player’s performance against Liverpool on Tuesday night, however, has calmed down a few fans.
The German side’s defence struggled on the night and Upamecano was brutally exposed by the Liverpool frontline. Upamecano also gave away the ball cheaply. It can be argued that since Virgil van Dijk’s injury, no other defender has passed the ball this much to the Reds front three.
A number of United fans took to Twitter at half time, wondering if they dodged a bullet by failing to land the defender. We take a look at what some of them said below.

Glad people seeing that Upamecano isnt elite yet. His positioning is pretty suspect. I know it’s tactical to allow him to challenge up the field but he needs to be a little smarter about it.

Upamecano is a player I really liked until his performance against United at Old Trafford. Now I’m thinking Liepzig are laughing getting the money for him. He’s been awful tonight and that second goal was disastrous defending.
