A report by Manchester Evening News mentions that Manchester United midfielder Dylan Levitt is in talks to join NK Istra 1961 on loan until the end of the current season.

The 20-year-old midfielder joined League One side Charlton Athletic on a season-long loan in the summer. However, his time there was less than impressive.

Levitt made just three league appearances for the Addicks in a season where he struggled to get playing time. His loan deal was thus terminated by United with a view of sending him on loan elsewhere.

And now, Levitt is on the verge of joining Croatian First Football League team NK Istra 1961 on loan for the remainder of this campaign. His agent, Ivan Omrcen, expressed Levitt’s excitement at the prospect of this move.

“He immediately agreed to come [to Istra] when we explained how much he will have to give in Istria. Dylan loves challenges.”

Much needed playing time

It would not be smooth sailing for the Welsh midfielder if he does join the Croatian side. Istra are currently rooted to the bottom of the table and look like relegation favourites this season.

This move also comes after the youngster was linked with a number of clubs in the Netherlands last year. And even this year, he was expected to join another Football League club. (h/t Manchester Evening News)

Nevertheless, a move to Istra may just be what Levitt needs to get regular playing time. It gains more importance in the context of the rescheduled UEFA European Championship in the summer.

The midfielder would know that playing time will be important if he wants to make the Welsh national team. Quite frankly, that seems impossible at United.
