Youngster Shola Shoretire commits his future to Manchester United with professional contract

A report by the Manchester United website confirms that Shola Shoretire has signed his first professional contract at Manchester United.

The 17-year-old forward is on the back of an excellent showing against Blackburn Rovers U-23. He netted 3 goals in a 6-4 win for the young Red Devils.

Shoretire has played 13 league games for Neil Wood’s U-23 side, scoring 5 goals and bagging 3 assists in that time. The Newcastle-born winger is versatile up front and can be deployed on both wings.

The England U-16 international joined the Red Devils from Newcastle United’s youth academy in the summer of 2014. Since then, Shoretire has steadily made his way up the ladder at the club.

Signing a professional contract at the club at just 17 shows the faith that the team has in the youngster. The Manchester United youth academy product looks destined for great things.

Shoretire is the future

He would be hoping to follow in the footsteps of Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood, two academy products who have gone on to establish themselves as important first-team figures.

The Manchester United U-23 is brimming with young talents. United, however, do not look like they need a forward urgently.

The club already has a potent attack and just recently confirmed the signing of Amad Diallo. So while Shoretire is not needed immediately in the senior team, Neil Wood would be hoping he continues his form for the U-23 side.

They lie 6th in the table, with 21 points from 14 games. The club has found its goal-scoring form in the Premier League 2 recently, putting six goals past their opponents in each of their last 2 games.
