Harry Maguire warns Manchester United teammates ahead of ‘physical’ Everton clash
According to The Metro, Manchester United skipper Harry Maguire has warned his teammates to be wary of a physical Everton side, who they face at home this Saturday.
The Red Devils are currently in the second spot in the Premier League. A win will see them keep up with league leaders Manchester City.
Carlo Ancelotti’s Everton is enjoying a good season and are in contention to make the top four. They are likely to give us a run for our money if we let them.
In Dominic Calvert-Lewin, the Toffees possess a formidable striker who knows where the back of the goal is. He has scored 18 goals in 28 games for the Blues so far. A dominant presence, Maguire believes the striker’s physicality will cause United problems.
“I know Dom from our time with England and he’s very physical and a handful, and we’ll need to be right on our game to keep him quiet.”
Keeping the striker quiet could go a long way in helping us win the game. In Maguire, we do have a dependable defender who is capable of holding his own in the air.
“If we manage to do that, it will be a big part for us in, hopefully, taking steps towards the victory.”
Maguire also praised the performances of his full-backs Luke Shaw and Aaron Wan-Bissaka. The United skipper expects both players to contribute both offensively and defensively.
He also praised the full-backs for preventing crosses from coming in. Calvert-Lewin is someone who thrives off them and cutting out his supply will make our job easier.
