Manchester United outcast Marcos Rojo set to join Boca Juniors
According to the Daily Mail, out-of-favour Manchester United defender Marcos Rojo is on the verge of sealing a transfer to Argentine giants Boca Juniors in the ongoing transfer window.
The 30-year-old has been with Manchester United since 2014, having been signed by Louis van Gaal from Sporting Lisbon. However, his six-and-a-half-year stint at Old Trafford has been marred by injuries and inconsistent form.
Despite having been at the club for over half a decade, Rojo has made just 122 appearances so far, scoring twice. The 30-year-old hasn’t made a single first-team appearance for Manchester United since November 2019.
Rojo spent the second half of the last season out on loan at boyhood club Estudiantes, but failed to make the most of it. Having returned to United in the summer, the defender has been out with an injury for most of the time this term.
The Argentine is clearly not part of manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s plans. So, it was only a matter of time before the club offloaded him. More so, considering that the 30-year-old’s contract expires at the end of the season.
And even though there has been interest from fellow Premier League clubs Newcastle United and Sheffield United, the Argentine is set to return to his homeland. It is claimed that Manchester United are in advanced talks with Boca Juniors over the sale of Rojo. (h/t Daily Mail)
