Manchester United stance on Juan Mata transfer amid Juventus and Valencia links

Speaking before the game against Fulham this week (h/t Manchester Evening News), Ole Gunnar Solskjaer stated that Manchester United are yet to make a decision on the future of Juan Mata amid transfer rumours.

Recently, Mata was linked with a move to Spanish side Valencia and Serie A champions Juventus. And now, Solskjaer has revealed that the club has still not taken a decision on his future.

The 32-year-old is a regular feature in the United matchday squad this season. However, he has only had 4 starts in the league and has come off the bench twice.

Mata is in the last 6 months of his contract with the Red Devils. However, the club has the option to activate a one-year extension in his contract that would see it extend to the summer of 2022.

But the club is yet to arrive at a decision on whether they want to extend it or not. The report states that Mata is not likely to leave for a transfer fee in the January window. (h/t Manchester Evening News)

Still not sure

When asked about Juan Mata’s future at the club, Solskjaer stated that the club is yet to make any stellar decision.

“He is one of those I have discussions with all the time and it is difficult to leave him out but unfortunately that’s where it is at the moment. No decision has been made yet.”

Unlike Mata, the club has taken a decision to not extend the contracts of Sergio Romero and Marcos Rojo. The Argentine duo is likely to leave permanently before the deadline.

Juan Mata joined Manchester United in 2014 and is now linked with a transfer to Juventus and Valencia.

In the last couple of years, Mata has slowly seen his number of starts decrease for the club.

If he does decide to leave United, the club should not have too much trouble replacing him in the team. Solskjaer has a strong set of attackers and midfielders who could fill in the gap left by Mata.
