Rio Ferdinand compares Manchester United new boy Amad Diallo to Cristiano Ronaldo
Speaking on the ‘Rio Ferdinand Presents Five’ on Youtube, Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has revealed high hopes for Amad Diallo.
The Red Devils signed the youngster for a whopping £37million. He has signed a four-and-a-half-year deal with the option of a one-year extension.
Despite making just five appearances for Atalanta at the senior level, Diallo is expected to do great things. Ferdinand for one has gone on to compare the youngster to Cristiano Ronaldo.
The Portuguese legend joined United as a fantastic prospect. He developed into one of the best players on the planet at Old Trafford before moving on to Real Madrid.
Ferdinand has backed Diallo to follow in Ronaldo’s footsteps and develop into one of the world’s best players at United. The sentiment also appears to be shared by those within the club.
“If you see his clips and speak to some of the people at the club that were involved in buying him, potentially this kid could be an absolute world beater.”
Burdened by expectations!
Ferdinand is not keen to apply pressure on Diallo. He believes the hype around the player is real and he could eventually turn into something special.
“This kid seems quite similar in that sense. if you see his clips and the way people talk about him then I think the world is his oyster if he applies himself right.”
There is certainly a lot of expectations being put on a player most of us have not seen play even once. While the same could have been said of Ronaldo 17 years ago, the Portuguese star turned out alright.
Hopefully, Diallo will do the same and go on to prove his weight in the years to come.
