Paul Pogba questions Solskjaer tactics in the loss to Manchester City
According to the Daily Star, Manchester United star Paul Pogba has taken a subtle swipe at Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and his tactics against Manchester City.
United succumbed to their city rivals on the night, making it four losses out of four since Solskjaer took over the reins at Old Trafford.
Speaking after the game, Pogba indicated that it was the finer details that cost United dearly. It appeared to be a dig at the tactics deployed by Solskjaer on the night.
“Details make the difference all of the time and now when it is big games like this, it is details and at set-pieces we lost.”
Pogba went on to add that it was not the first time such an incident occurred. Given that it is was directed at Solskjaer, it hints at a lack of tactical acumen by the United boss.
The French midfielder went on to urge his teammates to learn from the defeats and do better in the future. The players will get an opportunity to do just that when they take on Watford in the FA Cup on Sunday.
Not dropping the ball
While it is frustrating to see us experience yet another semifinal defeat, it is imperative that we build upon our strong position in the league.
United could go top of the Premier League as long as they avoid defeat to Burnley on January 12. While there are a number of games still to be played, we are firmly entrenched in the title race.
Solskjaer should be given credit for largely steadying the ship and leading us to four semifinals. However, unless he breaks his trophy drought, questions regarding his ability will keep doing the rounds.
