Manchester United reject Atalanta’s approach to keep Amad Diallo on loan for the rest of the season
According to ESPN, Manchester United have rejected Atalanta’s attempts to keep teenage winger Amad Diallo at the club on loan for the rest of the season.
Manchester United United signed 18-year-old Diallo in October in a £37m move. But, having failed to secure a work permit, the club allowed him to stay at the Serie A side with a view to bringing him in this month.
Manchester United are working on obtaining a Governing Body Exemption for Diallo, following talks with the FA, that would enable Diallo to link up with the squad this month.
In fact, Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer confirmed recently that the winger was set to arrive at the club imminently.
Amidst all this, Atalanta boss Gian Piero Gasperini insisted that the Serie A side wished to keep hold of the winger on loan for the rest of the season.
“It is clear that he is going to Manchester United, but he could still remain here for a few months with us. I like him a lot, he’s only 18. I’d like him to stay until June, obviously it depends on his club.”
However, Manchester United have seemingly rejected any such request as Diallo posted a picture from the plane on his social media, hinting that a move to Old Trafford was on the cusp of completion. (h/t Daily Mail)

Having come through the youth ranks at Atalanta, Diallo has made just five senior appearances for the club till date. But, his record for the youth teams in recent years has been quite exceptional.
It will be interesting to see what kind of impact the 18-year-old makes upon his arrival at Manchester United.
