Manchester United look set to miss out on David Alaba, according to Jan Aage Fjortoft
According to Norwegian reporter Jan Aage Fjortoft, Manchester United target David Alaba appears to have no intention of moving to the Premier League.
The 28-year-old is one of the best players to potentially become available on a Bosman in recent years. Despite interest from a number of clubs in England, Alaba’s sights set to be on a switch to Spain.
This can open the door for Barcelona and Real Madrid to make a move for the Austrian superstar.
A key member of Bayern’s squad, Alaba is a versatile player capable of filling a number of positions. Also an accomplished set-piece taker, the Austrian has plenty to offer to whichever team he chooses to join.
Given United’s struggles in defence, Alaba would have been an excellent addition to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side. With his distribution and ability to bring the ball out, the 28-year-old would have brought more assurance to us keeping possession of the ball.
Alaba has just months left on his Bayern Munich contract. With talks regarding a new deal stalling, he looks increasingly likely to leave on a Bosman in the summer.
Real have tabled a contract worth £8.9million per year for the Austrian international. With Sergio Ramos’ future far from certain, Alaba would be an excellent replacement for the long-serving Spaniard. (h/t Mirror)

Given the struggles Real and Barcelona have had this season, their capture of Alaba can be considered a steal. Both teams are in need of a rebuild and Alaba is a player they can build around.
United meanwhile are a team on the rise and look to be on the cusp of something special. Joining us would see both the club and the player benefit. As things stand, we look to have missed out, however, stranger things have happened in the transfer window.
