West Brom decide not to sign Manchester United ace Daniel James

According to the Daily Mail, Premier League strugglers, West Brom have decided not to sign Manchester United star Daniel James in the January transfer window.

The Baggies have found the going tough in the Premier League since their promotion last year. Facing the threat of relegation, they brought in Sam Allardyce to pull away towards safety.

Daniel James was a target for West Brom

The former Everton and England boss is an admirer of Manchester United winger James and wanted to sign him up in the January transfer window to help West Brom’s battle to stave off relegation.

The 23-year-old has struggled to nail down a starting berth since his explosive start to life at Old Trafford back in 2019. Indeed, James has featured just nine times across all competitions this term, starting just five of United’s 16 league games. (h/t Transfermarkt)

This had led to speculations over his future at the club, with the likes of Burnley, Brighton & Hove Albion and Leeds United all eyeing a loan move, along with West Brom. (h/t Daily Mail)

However, as per the aforementioned report, the Baggies have decided to end the pursuit of the Wales international. Instead, Allardyce will look to sign a centre-back, a midfielder and a striker this month.

James has managed two goals so far this term. While the 23-year-old has bags of potential, things haven’t worked out for him since the second half of the last season.

Given he isn’t receiving too many chances, a loan move until the end of the term could serve James well.
