David Beckham wants to bring Sergio Romero to Inter Miami
A report by The Athletic (h/t Mirror) states that former Manchester United player David Beckham wants to bring Sergio Romero to Inter Miami in the MLS.
Beckham is a part-owner of the Miami-based MLS side and wishes to use his United connections to add players to his side.
And now, his club is linked with signing United’s out-of-favour Argentine goalkeeper Sergio Romero. Joining Old Trafford more than 5 years ago, he has only made 61 appearances for the club.
Things have worsened for the 33-year-old. He was omitted by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer from United’s Premier League and Champions League squads this season.
Romero is behind David de Gea, Dean Henderson, and even Lee Grant in the pecking order. Romero’s contract at Old Trafford expires in the summer next year. (h/t Mirror)
This means he is free to enter agreements with foreign clubs in January over a free transfer in the summer. However, United can use the option to extend his contract by 12 months as they don’t want to lose him on a free.
The club even rejected a £2million earlier this season from Everton as they did not want to strengthen a Premier League rival.
Still the club is open to selling the shot-stopper but want some fee for him. The Argentine had joined United from Sampdoria in 2015 on a free transfer.
One hurdle that can stand in the way of Inter Miami signing Romero could be his massive £100,000-a-week wages.

It is clear that Romero is not in United’s future plans. He has not featured in a league game for the club since playing in the 1-0 win over Watford on the last day of the 2017/18 season.
After Solskjaer getting his hands on the returning Dean Henderson from Sheffield United, there seems to be no way back into the United first-team picture for Romero.
