Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to try out Donny van de Beek in a new position
According to the Mirror, Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has given his insight into what could be a new position for Donny van de Beek.
The 23-year-old Dutchmn is so far the only major signing the club has made this summer. He hit the ground running when he scored on his debut against Crystal Palace last month.
Making his second start for the club against Brighton in the Carabao Cup, he once again impressed as the Red Devils prevailed 3-0 away at the Amex.
Van de Beek showcased his class once again as he set up Juan Mata for United’s second of the night. This gave us the cushion to be more comfortable against a plucky Seagulls side.
While the Dutchman has started the game in midfield, he has often veered towards the left in the midst of matches.

“He’s a different type of left-sided player compared to Dan James and Marcus Rashford, but coming inside and finding good pockets, why not.”
Solskjaer is a fan of Van de Beek’s versatility. He compared the Dutchman’s situation to himself as a player who excelled in various roles. (h/t Mirror)
“He can play loads of different positions, which sometimes is a strength for a player.”
Van de Beek’s agent had earlier expressed his displeasure at the player’s lack of playing time. Solskjaer has since moved to reassure the player on the same.
