Manchester United face Juventus, Sevilla competition for Alex Telles
Speaking on the Transfer Window Podcast (h/t Express), journalist Duncan Castles has claimed that Juventus and Sevilla are also interested in signing Manchester United target Alex Telles.
Manchester United have been chasing the signing of the Brazilian international as the club looks to add more competition for places at the left-back slot. (h/t Express)
With Telles in the final year of his contract, he, too, is believed to be keen on a switch to Old Trafford. But the Red Devils haven’t been able to agree on a transfer fee with FC Porto up until now. (h/t Express)
Porto initially asked for €25m, before lowering their demands to €20m. However, United are reluctant to pay that much for a player in the final year of his contract and are ready to wait it out to sign him for free next summer. (h/t Express)
However, Castles has warned that United could risk losing him with this strategy as Sevilla and Juventus are also keen on the Brazilian. (h/t Express)
“There’s the risk that Sevilla – which would be an easier place for him to move to. Juventus also have a higher status in the game at present. And have a much higher chance of winning silverware if he moves there rather than Manchester United.”
Ed Woodward’s strategy to wait until the end of the window for clubs to lower their asking price hasn’t always worked in favour of Manchester United in the past. And employing similar tactics in pursuit of Telles could end up costing the club.

It has been a very frustrating transfer window so far for Manchester United. Donny van de Beek is the only arrival at Old Trafford thus far. Whereas all our rivals have significantly strengthened their squads.
Signings need to be made soon or we risk being left behind the competition.
