Valencia pushing to sign Sergio Romero from Manchester United
According to the Mirror, Manchester United goalkeeper Sergio Romero could be closing in on an exit, with Valencia keen on signing him up.
The 33-year-old has been with United for five years, having been signed by Louis van Gaal in 2015. He has been a brilliant backup for first-choice goalkeeper David de Gea during his time at Old Trafford.
In 61 appearances across all competitions, Romero has kept 39 clean sheets during his spell at Manchester United. (h/t Transfermarkt)
Romero felt aggrieved by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s decision to pick de Gea over him in United’s semi-final clashes in the FA Cup and the Europa League last season. (h/t Mirror)
And with Dean Henderson returning from a successful loan stint at Sheffield United, the Argentine finds himself as the No.3 at Manchester United behind De Gea and Henderson.
Hence, the seasoned campaigner is on the lookout for an exit. And Valencia are ready to offer Romero an exit route. To that end, they have already held talks with Manchester United over a move for the custodian. (h/t Mirror)
As per the report, the La Liga outfit are prepared to offer around £6m for the veteran Argentine international.

Romero has been an excellent servant for the club over the years. And now that he is desiring a move away, it would only be fair for the United hierarchy to sanction a sale, considering that his spot has been usurped by Henderson.
Plus, it would also enable United get his £65,000-a-week wages off the books as well, while the proceeds from his sale can be used to fund moves for Solskjaer’s transfer targets.
