Tottenham eyeing Jesse Lingard swoop
According to an exclusive report from the Daily Star, Tottenham Hotspur are considering making a shock swoop for Manchester United star Jesse Lingard this summer.
A product of the Manchester United academy, Lingard has been a member of the first-team squad for a number of years now. So far, he has racked up 207 appearances for the club, scoring 33 goals in the process.
However, the England international has fallen down the pecking order at the club over the last two seasons. Lingard started just nine Premier League games in the season gone by, hardly featuring once Bruno Fernandes was signed in the January transfer window.
Now with Donny van de Beek also arriving at the club, the Englishman is likely to fall further down the ladder of preference for the attacking midfield role.
As per the report, Lingard was left seething after being omitted from the matchday squad against Crystal Palace. The midfielder finds himself in limbo at Old Trafford. And former manager Jose Mourinho is now looking to capitalise on the situation.
The Portuguese tactician has been keeping a close eye on the 27-year-old’s situation and may look to offer him a chance to revive his career with Tottenham in a £30m deal. (h/t Daily Star)

Lingard has been a key member of the side for a number of years. However, it is clear that his levels have dropped quite a bit in recent times. With increased competition and lack of transfer funds, a separation would be in the best interest of all parties involved.
However, it remains to be seen if Tottenham do act on the interest in the 27-year-old.
