Manchester United contact the agents of Alex Telles
According to reputed journalist Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United have made contact with the representatives of FC Porto star Alex Telles, immediately after the club’s defeat to Crystal Palace.
The Red Devils began their 2020/21 season on a sour note as the Eagles defeated them 3-1 at Old Trafford. Almost the entire team struggled on Saturday, with Luke Shaw and Victor Lindelof particularly looking very poor.
On the evidence of that display, Manchester United will need to bolster their defensive ranks before the transfer window closes. And, it seems like it has driven the club into action, as they have made contact with Telles’ agents.
The 27-year-old is in the final year of his current contract with the Portuguese heavyweights and will push to leave this summer, as per Romano. He further goes on to add that Manchester United will consider making a bid for the Brazilian in the coming days.
Telles has been with Porto for four years now and has grown into a key player. A solid performer at the back, the Brazilian backs it up with brilliant attacking output, as was seen from his tally of 13 goals and 12 assists last season.
Telles started the 2020/21 campaign with a bang as well, scoring two and setting up one more in Porto’s season opener against SC Braga.

Shaw showed signs of improvement last season, but his attacking output remains lacking. In that sense, Telles would be a huge upgrade, while he would also solidify things at the back and add a bit more experience as well.
But given how United have fared in the transfer window up until this point, raising expectations over a deal for the 27-year-old wouldn’t be prudent for the fans.
