Marcus Rashford presented with PFA Merit award
According to the club’s official site, Manchester United star Marcus Rashford has been presented with the PFA Merit award.
The striker was afforded the accolade for his active role in helping fight child food poverty during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The 22-year-old was presented with the special accolade at United’s Aon Training Complex yesterday. Rashford’s efforts helped convince the UK government to provide free school meals for children over the summer holidays.
Rashford was happy to receive the accolade and hoped it would encourage his fellow professionals to also step up and do their bit for the society.
“I’m very happy and I’ll definitely continue to do my best to help people.”
The United ace also admits that efforts will have to be stepped up to come up with long-term solutions.
“Me and my team behind me are just trying to find plans on how we can help these children for the rest of their childhood really and long-term answers to the problem.”
Rashford has also been making waves on the pitch. The United star enjoyed his best season last time around, scoring 22 goals in 44 games as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side ended the season in third place while also making it to three cup semifinals.
This saw him nominated for the PFA Young Player of the Year Award. Under-fire youngster, Mason Greenwood was also nominated for the same. Unfortunately, the duo lost out to Trent Alexander-Arnold on the night.
