Manchester United have dropped their interest in Jack Grealish
According to Sky Sports, Manchester United have dropped their interest in Aston Villa skipper Jack Grealish.
The 24-year-old has enjoyed a brilliant season in the English top flight. His performances have seen him linked with a move to Old Trafford for a number of months now.
The midfield star played a starring role in Villa’s successful survival bid. He scored eight Premier League goals while also providing six assists. (h/t Birmingham Mail)
A dynamic personality, Grealish would have added mobility and verve to our midfield. The prospect of having him partner Bruno Fernandes and Paul Pogba would have been intriguing.
Villa are keen to hold onto their star asset and have placed a massive £80m asking price on his head. According to the report, this has put off United.
United made their first splash of the summer when they spent £40m to secure Donny van de Beek from Ajax Amsterdam.
The 23-year-old not only cost significantly lesser than Grealish but also has Champions League experience that the Villa skipper lacks.
The Dutch international put pen to paper on a five-year deal at Old Trafford. He will wear the number 34 shirt that was vacated by Dean Henderson.
While it is intriguing to speculate what Grealish could have brought, the ship has sailed.

Van de Beek is hopefully the first of a number of players United will bring in this summer.
The Red Devils are set to compete on multiple fronts and will need strength in depth to see the season through. We cannot afford to depend overly on the same group of players as last season.
