Leicester City set to beat Manchester United for Fode Ballo-Toure
According to the Daily Mail, Manchester United are set to face defeat in the race to sign Fode Ballo-Toure, with Leicester City being the front-runners for the Monaco star.
The 23-year-old spent his formative years at the academy of Paris Saint-Germain. However, he made the switch to LOSC Lille in 2017 in search of first-team football. Eighteen months later, the left-back signed for AS Monaco and has grown into a regular.
Till date, Fode Ballo-Toure has featured 46 times for the Principality-based outfit, registering three assists in the process. (h/t Transfermarkt)
As per the report, Ballo-Toure had made a strong impression on the Manchester United scouts. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was keen on securing his transfer in order to add more competition to first-choice left-back Luke Shaw.
The England international finally showed signs of fulfilling his vast potential this past season. However, another injury towards the end of the campaign once again stalled his momentum.
Brandon Williams has shown that he can be a reliable option. But the youngster still lacks the requisite experience. This made Ballo-Toure a viable target for us.
However, it seems like we may be unable to sign the former French U21 international. Leicester City, who are in the market for a new left-back following Ben Chilwell’s transfer, are leading the pursuit of the 23-year-old. (h/t Daily Mail)

Ballo-Toure is not the only left-back that we have been linked to this summer. Real Madrid’s Sergio Reguilon has also been touted as a target for the Red Devils this summer.
In spite of all the players being linked, Ed Woodward & co. are yet to make a single major signing this summer. At the same time, all our rivals have strengthened their ranks already.
We are just a few weeks away from the start of the 2020/21 campaign. So the club needs to act swiftly and in a decisive manner in the coming weeks.
