Benfica and Valencia interested in Andreas Pereira

According to ESPN, Manchester United midfielder Andreas Pereira is attracting interest from Portuguese giants Benfica as well as La Liga outfit Valencia, amid exit speculations.

The 24-year-old has been with Manchester United since 2012, having joined the club’s academy from PSV Eindhoven. He made his first-team debut way back in 2014. But the Brazilian has had to bide his time to become a regular.

After a couple of loan spells away at Granada and Valencia, Pereira has been regularly used in the senior side over the past couple of years.

Pereira had been a regular in the starting XI under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer for the first half of the 2019/20 season. However, the January signing of Bruno Fernandes and the subsequent return to fitness of Paul Pogba meant that the Brazilian hardly featured in the second half of the campaign.

Now, the 24-year-old is pushing for an exit in search of regular football despite having penned a long-term contract with United last year. (h/t ESPN)

Given the fixture pile-up next season, manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is understood to be keen on holding onto Pereira.

However, it seems like the Brazilian international has his mind set on an exit. And as per the report, Benfica, along with Pereira’s former loan club, Valencia, are ready to snap up his signing.

So it is very much likely that Pereira will be on his way out. Along with him, the likes of Marcos Rojo, Chris Smalling, Phil Jones and Joel Pereira could also face the axe. (h/t ESPN)
