Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is still keen on signing Jack Grealish for Manchester United
According to the Express, Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is keen to bring in Jack Grealish.
The Norwegian believes the Aston Villa skipper ticks a number of boxes as he aims to strengthen his squad. Most importantly he will bring an ‘X Factor’ to the side. (h/t Express)
It was something Solskjaer revealed he was looking for when it came to potential additions. The United boss believes Grealish’s energy and confidence will be vital attributes that will aid his team. (h/t Express)
Despite having a competent first XI, United lack proper strength in depth. This was apparent towards the end of last season and also the Europa League semifinals.
Despite trailing 2-1, Solskjaer put off substitutions until it was too late. It would appear that he lacks confidence in the players on the bench.
United cannot afford to depend on their starting XI for a whole season. Signs of fatigue were clear for all to see over the last few weeks. The prospect of fighting on multiple fronts with no reinforcements is a very sobering prospect indeed.
With the likes of Juan Mata, Andreas Pereira, and Jesse Lingard likely to leave, the Red Devils cannot afford not to bring in any players.
According to the report, Solskjaer is keen to bring in Grealish regardless of the trio’s fate. The Villa skipper led from the front as the Villans survived relegation on the last day of the season.
He was a shining ray of light in a largely disappointing season for Villa. Grealish did not just stand out among his teammates but also compared among the best midfielders in the league.
Capable of playing in the centre and also on the left, his versatility will also give Solskjaer further options.
According to the report, United are willing to add Sergio Romero in a deal for the English midfielder. Doing so will bring the Argentine’s five-year stint at Old Trafford to an end.
