Pablo Zabaleta predicts summer move to “big club” for Manchester United target Argentina star Enzo Fernandez
Former Manchester City star Pablo Zabaleta predicts Argentina and SL Benfica midfielder Enzo Fernandez to be on the move next summer amidst links to Manchester United.
The 21-year-old is enjoying a fruitful World Cup with La Albiceleste. He scored a crucial goal for Lionel Scaloni’s side against Mexico and provided an assist in the 2-0 win over Poland.
Speaking to BBC (h/t Manchester Evening News), Zabaleta, who managed 58 caps for Argentina, lavished praise on his compatriot. The former full-back expects a “big club” to acquire Fernandez’s signature.
“He’s been really good in both games, he’s been one of the best players for Argentina. He’s only 21 but he’s been fantastic and I think next summer, he will go to a big club. He’s got vision, his passing and shooting ability is great. He can play as a number four but also as a number eight.”
Apart from interest from the Red Devils, arch-rivals City are also eyeing the 21-year-old. He has been terrific with Benfica this season. The Primeira Liga outfit are unbeaten in all competitions in the current campaign.
Fernandez moved to the Eagles in the recent transfer window from River Plate in his home country. The Argentina international has been pivotal under Roger Schmidt at the Lisbon-based club in his short time there.
The midfielder has played in various positions, primarily in the number six and number eight roles this term at Benfica. In
